We’re delighted that Reay Under 5’s are joining us on our blog. They’d like to tell us about an exciting trip they made last October!
Last October, the children from Reay Under 5’s Playgroup enjoyed a trip to Thurso Fire Station. It was a lovely October morning and with great excitement, in their red suits and wellies, they met Nicola and Sharon from the Fire Station. The children looked at the fire suits and helmets that the girls were wearing and they were delighted when Yvonne put on the fire suit as quickly as she could. The children then had the opportunity to ask questions which they had thought about before the visit.
It was then time to go outside to look at the fire engine and the children got to sit inside it. Nicola turned on the lights and put the siren on. It was noisy! Then they got a shot of the fire hose with Nicola and Sharon helping them to blow over the wooden firemen. They loved doing this – so did Joy and Yvonne!
What a great morning of opportunity and learning the children had. When we came back after the holidays the children made a Firewoman as a thank you and named her ‘Thurso Firewoman’.
Yvonne put this into the Fire Station with a nice box of chocolates as a very big thank you.
